FBI Revisits Covert “Honeypot” Operation
The FBI, under new leadership, is reopening an investigation into a secret operation targeting Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. The operation, ordered by former FBI Director James Comey, involved two female undercover agents acting as “honeypots.”

A whistleblower exposed the operation to the House Judiciary Committee last year. The Washington Times first reported the revelation in October.
Comey’s Off-the-Books Investigation
According to the whistleblower, Comey personally ordered the infiltration without officially recording the case. The operation was separate from Crossfire Hurricane, the later investigation into alleged Russian collusion.
The FBI did not officially document the probe in its Sentinel system. Agents described it as a fishing expedition to find damaging information about Trump and his team.
Honeypot Agents Embedded in Trump’s Campaign
Two female undercover FBI employees reportedly gained high-level access to Trump’s campaign. They traveled with the team and used their positions to extract information. The operation ended when a media outlet obtained a photo of one of the agents. The FBI falsely claimed she was an informant whose life would be at risk if the image was published.
One undercover agent transferred to the CIA to avoid scrutiny. The other received a promotion and remains a senior FBI official.

FBI Leadership Seeks Answers
New FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino are searching for those involved. The agency declined to comment on the matter.
The whistleblower said internal orders forbade FBI staff from ever discussing the operation. Those directives, the whistleblower suggested, were intended as a threat to silence anyone involved.
Institutional Bias and Accountability
The disclosure raises concerns about institutional bias within the FBI. Despite the operation’s scope, Trump’s legal team never received any information about it.
With Patel at the helm, the FBI’s current leadership aims to uncover the extent of the previous administration’s actions. The investigation could reveal deeper issues within the agency’s handling of politically sensitive cases.
As the inquiry continues, lawmakers and the public await answers about the FBI’s role in the 2016 election. The agency’s integrity and political neutrality remain under scrutiny.
